Mikel has killed a lot of fish! He started out over thirty years ago with tropical fish keeping and gardening.
As his interest and experience in this hobby grew, he made a natural transition from tropical fish and gardening to water gardening and koi.
He began this transition over 10 years ago with an old piece of swimming pool liner, a hole in the ground, 200 gallons of water and four koi.
He still has three of his original fish. They have moved with him to new homes twice. The fourth fish was sold to a local pet store. He now has hundreds of fish from this humble beginning.
He now has five ponds with the fifth still under construction. There is the mud pond, the twins, the bridge pond, and the stained glass pond.
Mikel has learned a lot during his years as a fish hobbyist. He says it's because he has killed a lot of fish!
